Residents across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana are urged to prepare for gusty winds through Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, south winds of 20 to 25 mph are expected to shift to the southwest, bringing occasional gusts of up to 40 mph through midday. The strongest winds may dislodge loose objects, bring down tree branches, and create challenging driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles. Winds are anticipated to ease slightly by afternoon, though breezy conditions will persist.

Motorists and residents are advised to exercise caution and secure outdoor items to prevent damage or accidents.
