Chicago, IL – Residents should prepare for a significant rise in temperatures and humidity starting this weekend. Friday remains comfortable, with highs reaching 83°F under partly cloudy skies. However, conditions will change dramatically by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will see temperatures climb between 82°F and 87°F. Humidity levels will increase, pushing the heat index up to 95°F. This marks the beginning of an extended period of intense heat across Illinois.

Sunday brings even higher temperatures, with a peak heat index ranging from 86°F to 90°F. By Monday, the heat index will surge to between 100°F and 110°F, with little relief expected before midweek.

Residents are advised to take precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged outdoor activities. Vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and those with health conditions, should remain in cool environments. There is a small chance of scattered thunderstorms on Saturday night, but these won’t provide lasting relief.

With temperatures staying high through Tuesday, it’s essential to monitor forecasts and take necessary actions to stay safe during this heatwave.
