Chicago, IL – Rain is expected to end this morning across the Chicago area, with skies clearing by this afternoon as a cold front moves south of the region. According to the National Weather Service Chicago, cooler, more seasonable fall temperatures will settle in for the rest of the workweek.

The five-day forecast calls for highs mainly in the mid-60s from Tuesday through Thursday, with partly to mostly sunny conditions. Lows are forecast to dip into the upper 30s and low 40s overnight, especially in inland areas. By Friday and Saturday, temperatures are expected to rise again, reaching into the low to upper 70s.

The weather service notes that while Tuesday morning will see lingering showers southeast of Interstate 55, most of northern Illinois will experience clearing skies by afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday will bring bright sunshine and light winds, offering classic fall-like conditions.

By the weekend, warmer air will return, with highs nearing 80 degrees on Saturday and mild overnight temperatures in the 50s. No major rain systems are forecast for the remainder of the week, bringing a stretch of dry weather for outdoor plans.
