Chicago, IL – Lingering showers and storms from the remnants of Hurricane Beryl are expected to diminish by this evening. Isolated to scattered afternoon storms remain possible on Thursday. Temperatures will rise as the weekend approaches, with increasing heat and humidity likely to bring daily thunderstorm chances.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated heavy rainfall affected the south Chicago metro area on July 9, with peak rain amounts reaching up to 3.5 inches. Rainfall of 2-4 inches extended from east-central Illinois into northern Indiana. Collegeville, Indiana, recorded the highest rainfall with 6.05 inches.

Looking ahead, Thursday will see high temperatures between 79-83°F, with a 20-40% chance of isolated thunderstorms. Friday’s forecast predicts highs of 83-87°F and mostly clear skies. Saturday and Sunday will bring warmer temperatures, ranging from 84-93°F, with scattered afternoon thunderstorms possible each day.

The heat index could reach 95-105°F on Sunday, prompting advisories for heat safety. Nighttime lows will stay mild, ranging from 60-74°F throughout the weekend.
