Chicago, IL – Cold conditions will persist across the Chicago area through the workweek, with subzero wind chills expected mainly during overnight and morning hours, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service in Chicago said Monday morning wind chills range from -15 to -25 degrees, with daytime highs only reaching 7 to 11 degrees. While sunshine is possible at times, temperatures will remain well below normal.
On Tuesday, blustery conditions are expected, with morning wind chills ranging from 0 to -10 degrees and high temperatures between 12 and 19 degrees. Despite slightly warmer daytime readings, minimum wind chills of -10 to -15 degrees are forecast to continue overnight.
The cold pattern holds into Wednesday, with morning wind chills between -5 and -15 degrees and highs ranging from 11 to 19 degrees. Similar conditions are expected Thursday, when highs range from 10 to 16 degrees and early-day wind chills again fall below zero.
Forecasters emphasized that the most dangerous cold will occur during nighttime and early morning hours, when frostbite can develop quickly on exposed skin. Residents are urged to dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit time outdoors when possible.
Cold-related impacts may also affect travel and daily routines. Vehicles may experience starting issues, and icy patches could persist on untreated roads. Commuters, students, and early-shift workers should allow extra time and prepare for bitter wind chills at bus stops and train platforms.
The National Weather Service said cold conditions are expected to continue through the end of the workweek, with updates issued as the pattern evolves.
