Chicago, IL – The Windy City is poised for a balmy blast with temperatures soaring unseasonably high away from the shores of Lake Michigan.

The unanticipated heat wave is expected to peak today before taking a sharp turn as cooler breezes usher in a significant drop in lakeside temperatures by the afternoon. Residents should brace for a dramatic change late Monday into Wednesday with the National Weather Service forecasting periods of showers and potential thunderstorms.

Some of these storms may escalate to severe levels on Tuesday, with concerns mounting over strong wind gusts ranging from 35-40 mph. Chicagoans are advised to remain vigilant and prepare for swiftly changing weather conditions as the week progresses.
