Chicago, IL – Warm and humid conditions will continue across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana through early next week, but the National Weather Service (NWS) says scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely at times.

According to the NWS Chicago office, Friday will bring highs in the upper 80s to near 90 inland, though cooler breezes will keep temperatures lower near Lake Michigan. Storm chances will be highest along the I-39 corridor and to the south, with nighttime lows dipping into the mid-60s.

On Saturday, highs are expected in the mid to upper 70s, with additional rain possible, especially during the evening and overnight. Sunday’s forecast calls for highs in the upper 70s and another round of scattered storms. Monday will remain warm, with highs near 80 and a 50% chance of rain.

Forecasters emphasize that the weekend won’t be a complete washout, but residents should be prepared for on-and-off showers that may affect outdoor plans. Those traveling near the lakefront should also expect cooler conditions compared to inland areas.

The NWS encourages residents to monitor local forecasts for storm updates and possible advisories into next week.
