Chicago, IL – A long stretch of cloudy weather will continue across northern Illinois through Thursday—and likely into Friday—as rain chances stay focused well south of the Chicago area.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, early evening sprinkles may linger tonight before skies remain overcast overnight. Low temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 30s to lower 40s.

Wednesday stays cloudy and cool, with highs ranging from 43–46 degrees and only a slight chance for a few isolated sprinkles. Most locations are expected to remain dry.

Thursday brings another mostly cloudy day with highs climbing into the 52–57-degree range. Rain chances increase, but activity is expected to stay mainly south of I-80, with the highest likelihood centered over central Illinois.

On Friday, widespread rain will once again favor areas south of the Chicago metro, although a chance of showers does extend northward toward I-80. Highs across northern Illinois will reach 48–52 degrees, with lows dipping to the upper 20s and 30s by nightfall.

The weekend begins on a brighter note. Saturday will feature partly sunny skies with highs in the 49–53-degree range, while Sunday trends similar with highs reaching 53–57 degrees.

Forecasters say no hazardous weather is expected, though the persistent cloud cover will dominate the region for several more days.
