Chicago, IL – Sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures will dominate Illinois weather through the weekend, but the National Weather Service says rain chances return early next week.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago, Thursday through Sunday will remain warm and dry, with highs ranging from the low 80s to near 90 degrees. Friday and Saturday are expected to be the hottest, with afternoon highs between 86 and 90. Nights will stay mild, with lows in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

The forecast shows breezy conditions arriving Sunday, with winds helping to usher in a pattern change. By Monday, forecasters say temperatures will cool slightly, topping out between 78 and 86 degrees. Rain chances increase to 20–30% across the Chicago area, marking the first opportunity for showers after several days of dry weather.

The weather service notes that this shift should bring “more seasonable temperatures” to the region, offering relief from the late-summer warmth that has stretched into early October.

Travelers and commuters should plan for a dry weekend but be prepared for possible wet conditions on Monday and Tuesday. Updates will be provided as confidence grows in timing and coverage of the rain.
