Chicago, IL – The National Weather Service (NWS) Chicago is forecasting a stretch of blustery fall weather across northern Illinois this week, with gusty winds, scattered showers, and possible frost by Thursday morning.
According to the NWS, wind gusts up to 40–45 mph are expected today, mainly during the afternoon, as a cold front moves across the region. Winds will remain brisk on Wednesday, reaching 30–35 mph, before gradually easing late in the week.
Daytime highs will stay in the 50s to low 60s, while nighttime temperatures dip into the 30s to mid-40s. The NWS says patchy frost is possible in outlying areas late Wednesday night and again Thursday morning, especially outside the immediate Chicago metro area.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and prepare for cooler mornings, particularly in western and southern suburbs. The NWS added that widespread frost could develop Thursday night if skies clear and winds calm.
