The Illinois EPA indicates the primary pollutant is PM2.5, with an AQI of 170, urging people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children to limit outdoor activities.
Today’s weather will be mostly cloudy with temperatures reaching up to 82°F. On Saturday, sunny and dry conditions are expected with highs near 78°F. The weather will change on Sunday, bringing widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms, particularly northwest of I-55, with temperatures ranging between 80°F and 87°F. Thunderstorms are expected to continue on Monday with a 55% chance of scattered storms and temperatures between 85°F and 87°F.
The US National Weather Service also forecasts isolated storms north of I-80 today, while Saturday remains clear and sunny. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially those in sensitive health groups. By mid-next week, clearer skies and mild temperatures are anticipated, providing some relief from the current conditions.
