Cheyenne, Wyo. – Thunderstorms will disrupt the start of the week across much of Wyoming, with drier, warmer conditions expected to return by midweek. Residents from Cheyenne to Rawlins may face periods of heavy rain and lightning Monday and Tuesday, creating travel delays and the potential for slick roadways.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, highs Monday will stay in the 60s to mid-70s, with scattered to widespread thunderstorms expected through the afternoon and evening. Tuesday will remain unsettled, with cooler air keeping temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Drivers along I-25 and I-80 should plan for slower commutes and allow extra time, especially in areas prone to ponding or brief flooding.
Communities such as Laramie, Douglas, and Torrington will see the sharpest cooldown Tuesday, while Scottsbluff and Sidney in western Nebraska may also experience repeated rounds of thunderstorms. Power outages are possible where storms are strongest, and officials advise charging devices and limiting outdoor activity during peak storm hours.
By Wednesday, skies will clear across the region, with highs rebounding into the upper 60s and low 70s. Thursday will bring warmer, more comfortable weather, climbing into the 70s and low 80s in many locations.
Showers could redevelop late week, but for now, residents can expect calmer conditions after Tuesday’s storms.
