Cheyenne, WY – Drivers across the South Laramie Range are urged to use caution this morning as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for the region, including the I-80 Summit, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.
The advisory, issued around 5:40 a.m. Monday, warns of visibility dropping below a quarter mile due to thick fog. The hazardous conditions are expected to persist through 11 a.m., potentially impacting morning commuters traveling between Laramie and Cheyenne.
According to the Weather Service, the fog could make driving treacherous, particularly on elevated sections and open plains where visibility can change suddenly. Motorists are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles.
The advisory covers parts of Albany and Laramie counties, with fog densest along the I-80 corridor, including the Summit Rest Area and Vedauwoo. Drivers heading toward Arlington and Buford may also encounter rapidly changing conditions.
The National Weather Service expects visibility to improve by late morning as temperatures rise and fog dissipates.
