Cheyenne, Wyo. – A strong cold front is set to sweep across Wyoming late Thursday into Friday, ushering in cooler, fall-like conditions and widespread rainfall through early next week. Drivers and residents should brace for soaking storms, particularly Saturday and Monday, when the National Weather Service warns of excessive rain and cooler highs in the 60s.

According to the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne, the system will keep skies cloudy and damp statewide, with storm chances persisting each day through midweek. Monday stands out as the coolest day, when highs will hold in the mid-60s to low 70s across much of southeastern Wyoming.

Rain chances increase sharply east of I-25, with totals potentially significant enough to impact travel and outdoor events in cities such as Cheyenne, Torrington, and Wheatland. Roads may become slick with localized ponding, and officials advise against driving through standing water.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for a wet stretch by allowing extra commute time, securing outdoor items, and keeping devices charged in case of isolated power outages.

Showers and storms will remain likely until midweek, when temperatures rebound slightly into the upper 70s. Additional updates are expected as new rainfall totals are assessed.
