Chesterfield County, VA – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Saturday morning, November 22, on Interstate 95 southbound near Exit 61B in Chesterfield County.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers were called to the scene at approximately 2:24 a.m. and found two vehicles — a 2014 Jeep Compass and a 2014 Nissan Altima — stopped in the right travel lane.

The driver of the Nissan, Anthony Lee Crawford Jr., 27, of Chesterfield County, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, Asti Naimah Lacy, 31, of Henrico County, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to VCU Medical Center.

Investigators say both drivers were standing outside their vehicles near the driver’s sides when they were struck by a third, unidentified vehicle that fled southbound. The suspect vehicle also hit the open driver’s door of the Jeep Compass before leaving the scene.

Recovered debris at the crash site indicates the suspect vehicle may be a white Volkswagen SUV with damage to the passenger side, a missing side mirror, and a broken headlight.

State Police urge anyone with information about the crash or the fleeing driver to call 804-750-8758 or dial #77 on a cell phone. Tips can also be emailed to questions@vsp.virginia.gov.

The investigation remains ongoing.
