Midlothian, VA – The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Medication Take-Back Event this Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wegmans, 12501 Stone Village Way in Midlothian.

The event, part of the national DEA Drug Take-Back initiative, offers residents a free and anonymous way to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. Officials say the effort helps prevent prescription drug abuse and protects the environment by keeping pharmaceuticals out of landfills and waterways.

Organized in partnership with the Chesterfield County Police Department (CCPD), HCA Healthcare, and local emergency response teams, the collection site will accept pills and medications but no needles or sharps.

“Events like these are critical in reducing the risk of medication misuse within households,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Residents are encouraged to bring medications in their original containers if possible. Volunteers will be on-site to assist with drop-offs and answer questions about proper disposal.

For additional information on upcoming take-back events or disposal guidelines, residents can visit the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
