Annapolis, Maryland – Tidal flooding could inundate low-lying streets across coastal Maryland through the weekend, with the highest flood risk targeting Annapolis and surrounding shoreline communities during high tide cycles Friday night and again early Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, a Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect through Saturday, with multiple rounds of moderate to minor flooding expected along the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac River. Forecasters say the greatest concern is around the Severn River at Annapolis, where water levels surpassed 3.3 feet early Friday—well into moderate flood stage.

Flood-prone zones in cities like Baltimore, Alexandria, and portions of Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, and Charles counties may see repeated water encroachment during the next three high tide cycles. Residents should avoid driving through flooded streets, especially during nighttime high tides when conditions worsen unexpectedly.

Tides are projected to stay elevated through Monday morning, with water levels gradually receding after a cold front arrives late Sunday. Coastal residents are urged to secure property near the waterfront and monitor local emergency alerts for new advisories as water levels fluctuate.
