Cherokee County, GA – The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents about a planned SWAT training exercise taking place today, Wednesday, near Marietta Road and Highway 140.

Officials say the training will involve loud noises throughout the day and are asking the public not to be alarmed. Deputies emphasized that there is no active emergency or threat in the area — the activity is part of a scheduled law enforcement preparedness drill.

The Sheriff’s Office conducts these types of training sessions periodically to maintain tactical readiness and ensure coordination among units in potential high-risk response situations.

Drivers and nearby residents may see increased police presence or hear controlled explosions and gunfire sounds as part of the training. Authorities advise residents to avoid the area if possible and to refrain from calling 911 about the activity unless an actual emergency occurs.

The department thanked the community for its understanding and cooperation during the exercise.
