Canton, GA – A Cherokee County jury convicted a Canton man this week on multiple child sex abuse charges following a four-day trial, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.

District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway said Chandler Reid Cantrell, 25, was found guilty on all 12 charges he faced, including one count of rape, four counts of incest, three counts of aggravated child molestation, and four counts of child molestation.

According to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in August 2021 after a woman reported that Cantrell had allegedly molested her two children. During separate forensic interviews, both children disclosed repeated assaults that began when they were under 10 years old, with one recalling incidents dating back to kindergarten.

The trial, held from October 27–30, included testimony from six witnesses and five exhibits, including forensic interviews and the defendant’s law enforcement statement. After roughly four hours of deliberation, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts.

Superior Court Judge Jennifer L. Davis presided over the trial and will set a sentencing date at a later time.

The case was investigated by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Meaghan Frankish of the Special Victims Unit under the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit.
