Chemung County, NY – A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with a burglary and theft ring involving thousands of dollars in stolen power tools across Southport and Horseheads, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Patrick J. Morgan was arrested on charges of Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, all Class D felonies. The case stems from an investigation into a reported theft in the Town of Southport earlier this month.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a larceny report on Hopkins Street around 8:06 a.m. on October 6, 2025. Investigators learned that an enclosed trailer had been broken into, with approximately $8,800 worth of Milwaukee power tools, toolboxes, and other materials taken.
The investigation led authorities to a location on Holdridge Street, where some of the stolen property was recovered. Deputies later determined that several items had been sold in the Village of Horseheads, resulting in the recovery of 24 Milwaukee power tools and four toolboxes, all returned to their owner.
Morgan is currently being held in the Chemung County Jail on unrelated charges and is scheduled to appear in Southport Town Court at a later date.
