Wenatchee, WA – A dramatic water rescue unfolded Tuesday morning on Roses Lake near Manson, where a kayaker in distress was safely brought to shore after reportedly struggling in dangerous wind conditions.

According to the Chelan County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the incident happened around 8:22 a.m. Wednesday when RiverCom dispatch received multiple reports of a man in his 60s yelling for help roughly 600 meters offshore. Callers indicated the kayak may have overturned, leaving the individual stranded in choppy water with no other nearby boaters.

Deputies Chris Eakle and Aaron Seabright responded immediately, coordinating with fire and EMS crews while approaching the north end of the lake. Authorities said the victim was partially obscured by cattails when deputies arrived but was quickly located in the water.

Recognizing the urgency, Deputy Eakle deployed a department-issued marine throw bag and successfully delivered a rescue line on the first attempt. Officials said the deputies maintained communication and control throughout the rescue, ultimately pulling the individual safely to shore.

Fire and EMS personnel took over medical care once the man was on land. He was treated at the scene before being transported to Lake Chelan Community Hospital for further evaluation. His condition has not been publicly released.

The sheriffโ€™s office credited the swift and coordinated response for saving the manโ€™s life, noting the challenging weather conditions and the absence of other boaters on the lake at the time.

Officials also acknowledged the assistance of local fire crews and hospital staff, emphasizing the role of interagency teamwork in the successful outcome.

The incident serves as a reminder of the risks posed by sudden weather changes on open water, particularly for solo recreationists.
