Chelan, Washington – A reported apartment break-in quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, leaving a deputy assaulted and a suspect in custody following a rapid law enforcement response.
According to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:07 p.m. to an apartment complex on East Johnson Avenue after reports of a man pounding on a door and making threats. A deputy arrived within minutes and entered the building to locate the suspect and ensure residents were safe.
Inside, the deputy encountered a man matching the description exiting another apartment. Authorities identified him as Alejandro Morales-Gonzales, who was reportedly holding a metal object. After initially complying with commands, the suspect became combative when deputies attempted to detain him, striking a deputy in the face.
Additional deputies arrived and were able to restrain the suspect after a struggle. Medics evaluated him on scene before transporting him to a local hospital. The deputy declined medical treatment.
Investigators say the suspect had recently been removed from another unit at the complex and may have been under the influence. He now faces charges including attempted residential burglary, assault, and resisting arrest.
