Washington, D.C. – Consumers across the U.S. are being urged not to eat, sell, or serve several recalled Deep-brand frozen products amid an ongoing multistate outbreak of Salmonella Anatum infections.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the outbreak has been linked to Deep-brand Premium Select Frozen SURTI UNDHIU MIX and frozen sprouted mat (moth) and moong (mung) beans distributed nationwide. As of Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 11 illnesses and four hospitalizations across 10 states, including Illinois, Minnesota, and Tennessee. No deaths have been reported.

The FDA’s expanded advisory includes Deep-brand Premium Select Frozen SURTI UNDHIU MIX in 12-ounce packages marked with lot code IN25158K and a “Use By” date of Dec. 6, 2026. Whole Genome Sequencing confirmed the strain of Salmonella in this product matches the one identified in outbreak cases.

Recalled sprouted bean products were sold in 1-pound bags with specific lot codes including IN 24330, IN 25072, and IN 25108. Consumers should check their freezers and dispose of any affected items or return them to the point of purchase.

FDA inspectors collected samples at a U.S. location operated by manufacturer Chetak LLC Group. Several tested positive for Salmonella, leading to enhanced import screening.

Salmonella symptoms typically appear 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food and include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals are at greater risk for severe illness.

Consumers and retailers are advised to thoroughly clean and sanitize surfaces and containers that may have come into contact with these products and to seek medical attention if symptoms develop after exposure.

The FDA continues to investigate and may expand the recall if further contamination is discovered.
