Charlotte, NC – North Carolina residents should prepare for an elevated fire danger Thursday as warm temperatures, gusty winds, and low humidity create hazardous conditions. A special weather statement from the National Weather Service warns that the combination of 15-25 mph wind gusts and dry fuels will increase fire risks, particularly in western North Carolina and northeast Georgia.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, the fire danger will be highest between noon and 8 p.m. Thursday. Officials urge residents to check local burn restrictions and avoid outdoor fires. If burning is necessary, extreme caution is advised.

Meanwhile, spring warmth continues across the region. Charlotte will see a high near 68°F on Thursday, with partly sunny skies and a 50% chance of showers early in the day. Winds from the south will reach 10-17 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.

Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually climb. Friday will be sunny with a high of 64°F, while the weekend will bring highs in the low 70s. Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny, though a slight chance of rain returns Monday.

Residents should remain cautious of fire hazards and enjoy the mild spring temperatures as North Carolina enters a warm, breezy pattern.
