Charlotte, N.C.- Fall season is quickly approaching, and breweries are opening their doors for Oktoberfest celebrations. Some festivities are already underway, but plenty remain over the next five weeks. Here are a few of the recurring fests.
Gilde Brewery
For three weekends, Gilde Brewery will host a family-friendly Oktoberfest with keg tappings,German food and beer, live music, stein shuffles, steinholding competitions, face painting for children and more.
Festival dates are Sept. 11 to 21, Sept. 26 to 28 and Oct. 3-5. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery
Starting Sept. 12, The Old Mecklenburg Brewery will host Oktoberfest for four weekends. The first two weekends will be held at the LoSo location, with the final two at the Ballantyne location.
Festivities include live entertainment, German-style food and stein holding competitions. Visitors can also purchase the brewery’s signature one-liter glass boots. Stein holding competitions will take place each Saturday 4 to 6 p.m. Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
Cabarrus Brewing Company
Located in Concord, N.C. the Cabarrus Brewing Company is hosting an Oktoberfest with live music, German food, a vendor market and a variety of contests, including boot chugging , costumes , brat eating and stein holding contests.
The brewery will wrap up the weekend with a family fun day featuring face painting, rock wall climbing and an all-day German-style brunch.
Festival hours are Friday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m.
