CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Crisp air and quiet skies start this Saturday across the Queen City, the kind of calm that makes the coming change all the more noticeable. After a bright, mild day, clouds will slowly increase through the weekend as a developing low-pressure system brings the first real stretch of wet fall weather early in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, today remains mostly sunny with highs near 66°F and light northeast winds. It’s a perfect setup for outdoor plans or early Halloween decorating. Sunday starts off similarly, but clouds will thicken during the afternoon as east winds pick up slightly.

Showers become more likely late Sunday night into Monday morning, especially along the I-85 corridor from Gastonia to Concord. Monday’s rain chances rise to around 50%, with gusts up to 20 mph and highs only near 53°F — a full ten degrees cooler than Saturday. Some pockets of heavier rainfall could briefly impact the morning commute and slow travel near Uptown and Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

By Tuesday, the system begins to move out, leaving behind cooler air and a lingering chance of light rain. Highs will hold in the 50s through midweek before gradual warming returns Thursday.

Residents should keep rain gear ready for early week travel and expect damp lawns for trick-or-treat setup later in the week. After all, fall’s slower, wetter rhythm is finally settling in across the Carolinas.
