Charleston, WV – Much of West Virginia will see a warm and mostly dry weekend, though isolated showers and storms could develop, especially in higher elevations. The National Weather Service says mountain areas have a slight chance of precipitation both today and Saturday, with temperatures in the 70s to low 80s. Lowland regions will stay sunnier and hotter, climbing into the 80s and 90s.
According to the National Weather Service Charleston office, Sunday brings a greater risk of showers or thunderstorms for both mountains and lowlands, with the highest chance in the afternoon and evening. Mountain highs will stay in the upper 70s to near 80, while lowlands again top out in the low 90s.
Travelers in the mountains should be prepared for quick weather changes, as storms can develop rapidly. Those in the lowlands should take heat precautions, including staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.
Storm chances diminish Sunday night, with drier conditions likely to start the new week.
