Charleston, WV – The National Weather Service in Charleston reports that winter travel hazards are easing this morning, but gusty winds up to 45 mph are expected across portions of Randolph and Pocahontas counties through early afternoon.
According to the NWS Charleston office, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, with 20–30 mph gusts likely across the lowlands. The agency warns that strong winds could lead to minor tree damage and sporadic power outages, especially in higher elevations.
While the last of the snow showers fade across the mountains and northern counties, slick spots and icy bridges remain from recent snowfall. Drivers are urged to use caution, particularly during the morning commute.
Conditions will gradually improve later today, with sunshine returning Wednesday and temperatures climbing into the 50s by Thursday. The NWS expects a stretch of dry, milder weather through the end of the workweek, although another round of overnight wind gusts is possible late Tuesday into Wednesday.
