Charleston, WV – A warming trend will continue across central and southern West Virginia on Tuesday, bringing dry conditions and steadily rising temperatures through midweek before a cold front arrives later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service office in Charleston, high pressure will keep skies mostly dry and temperatures mild Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs on Tuesday are expected to range from the upper 30s to upper 40s, with Charleston near 48 degrees, marking a noticeable improvement from recent colder conditions.

Temperatures will continue to climb on Wednesday, with highs reaching the mid-40s to near 50 degrees across much of the region. Overnight lows will remain seasonably cool, generally falling into the upper 20s to low 30s, but no wintry precipitation is expected during this period.

Forecasters say the dry pattern will hold through Wednesday before changes arrive late in the week. A cold front is expected to move into the area late Thursday into early Friday, bringing the next chance for widespread precipitation. While rainfall amounts have not yet been finalized, rain is expected to be the primary precipitation type as temperatures remain relatively mild ahead of the front.

Winds may increase as the front approaches, and cooler air will follow behind the system heading into Friday. Temperatures are expected to trend downward after the front passes, though no significant winter weather impacts are currently anticipated.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the dry, mild conditions early in the week and stay updated on forecast changes as the late-week system approaches.
