Charleston, WV Weather: Dry Skies and Rising Temps Through Sunday Afternoon

Charleston, W.Va. – A warm, dry stretch will continue across West Virginia through Sunday, with temperatures climbing into the 90s for much of the state by the end of the weekend. Skies will stay mostly sunny, offering ideal conditions for outdoor events, but heat and hydration will be the main concerns.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, afternoon highs Friday will range from 80 in Beckley to 91 in Huntington. Charleston will top out near 87. By Saturday, Charleston should reach 90, Huntington 93, and temperatures in Elkins and Beckley will edge into the low 80s.

Humidity will remain relatively comfortable for August, but the heat will peak Sunday, with Charleston expected to hit 92 and Huntington pushing to 94. Even cooler mountain areas like Elkins could reach the upper 80s. The dry weather will help with travel and outdoor plans, though the NWS advises limiting strenuous activity during the hottest hours and drinking plenty of water.

This warm spell is expected to persist into early next week, with no rain in the short-term forecast.
