Charleston, WV – Downtown Charleston will pause to honor local service members today as the 2025 Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. along Kanawha Boulevard. The event, hosted by John Brawley Post 20 of the American Legion, marks the city’s 84th annual celebration.

According to the Charleston Police Department, the parade will follow a route along Kanawha Blvd and Capitol Street, with staging areas on Quarrier and Court Streets, before ending near Haddad Riverfront Park.

A ceremony at the Haddad Riverfront Stage will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., followed by the Annual Chili Lunch and Comradeship at the American Legion Post 20 (415 Dickinson St.) starting at 1 p.m.

City officials advised that Kanawha Blvd. from Clendenin St. to Morris St. will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the parade and related activities. Local traffic will still be able to access the westbound lane between Morris and Hale Streets.

Residents are encouraged to line the streets and show their support for veterans and active-duty military members. “Come downtown, line the streets, and help us celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country,” the city’s post read.
