Charleston, W.Va. – West Virginians can expect a stretch of sunshine and steadily warming temperatures this week as high pressure locks in over the region. Roads, rivers, and outdoor venues will see ideal late-summer weather conditions through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, dry air will dominate, keeping skies mostly clear across both the lowlands and higher elevations. Daytime highs in the lowlands will climb from the mid-70s Monday to the lower 80s by Thursday and Friday. Mountain communities will stay cooler, holding in the 60s to near 70 most days. Overnight lows will range from the 40s in higher elevations to the upper 50s in valleys.

Travel conditions across I-64, I-77, and I-79 will remain favorable, with no rain or fog expected during the morning or evening commutes. School buses and local events will benefit from the stable pattern, though forecasters note a gradual warming trend could push lowland highs into the mid-80s heading into the weekend.

The clear, dry weather is expected to persist into early next week, with no immediate threat of rain.
