Charleston, WV – Early morning fog is blanketing parts of West Virginia today before a cold front sweeps through, ushering in cooler, drier air for the rest of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, areas of dense river and valley fog formed early Wednesday, October 15, before giving way to partly to mostly cloudy skies later this morning. The front moving across the region today will bring reinforcing dry air and cooler temperatures through the weekend.
Highs are expected to reach the 60s in mountain areas and mid-70s in lowlands Wednesday and Thursday, dropping to the 50s and 60s by Friday and Saturday. Overnight lows could fall into the 30s in higher elevations, raising frost and freeze concerns for the next few mornings.
The NWS advises residents to monitor forecasts closely, especially those with gardens or sensitive plants, as frost advisories may be issued later this week. Conditions will remain dry and seasonable through the weekend, providing a crisp autumn feel across much of the Mountain State.
