Charleston, WV – Charleston residents are being urged to take precautions as a heat advisory goes into effect Wednesday afternoon. The advisory warns of dangerously high temperatures, with heat indexes expected to soar between 100°F and 105°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, WV, the most severe heat will hit Wednesday and Thursday. During this time, temperatures in lower elevations could reach the upper 90s, intensifying the risk of heat-related illnesses. The advisory remains in effect until 8 PM Wednesday, with possible extensions through Thursday and Friday.

Residents are advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours, especially from 12 PM to 8 PM. If outdoor activities are unavoidable, individuals should stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
