Charleston, WV – DUI suspect arrested after pursuit on Greenbrier Street this afternoon.
Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 3:46 p.m. to a 911 report of a woman slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle for approximately 45 minutes at the Go-Mart at Greenbrier Street and Rutledge Road, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies identified the driver as Rebecca Marie Bosley, 41, of Maryland, currently residing in Elkview, West Virginia. Detectives were in the area on an unrelated investigation and responded to the scene. Upon making contact, a detective allegedly observed Bosley holding burnt aluminum foil. When asked to hand it over, she allegedly attempted to conceal it in her purse.
According to the sheriff’s office, a dog inside the vehicle became aggressive as the detective reached toward the purse, prompting the deputy to step back. Authorities said Bosley then started the vehicle and fled the scene.
She was stopped a short time later near the FedEx location on Greenbrier Street with assistance from additional deputies. After being read her Miranda rights, Bosley allegedly admitted to using heroin and methamphetamine earlier in the day.
A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered needles, drug paraphernalia and a baggie containing a crystallized white substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Bosley was charged with felony fleeing while DUI. The Kanawha County Humane Officer responded and took custody of the dog found inside the vehicle.
The incident caused temporary disruption along Greenbrier Street, a busy corridor for local businesses and commuters during afternoon traffic hours.
