Charleston, SC – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston says scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to return late this morning and continue into the afternoon across southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia.

While the overall severe threat is low, forecasters note that an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm could develop — mainly across inland portions of the region. The greatest chances for storms will be between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Potential hazards include damaging wind gusts of 50–60 mph, brief heavy rainfall, and dangerous lightning.

Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, stay weather-aware, and ensure they can receive warnings if storms intensify this afternoon.
