Charleston, WV – A stretch of warm fall weather will carry through the weekend before a cold front brings a noticeable cooldown early next week. The National Weather Service in Charleston says temperatures will climb several degrees higher each day through Sunday, reaching the mid-70s to mid-80s across the lowlands before cooler air filters in by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service Charleston office, Friday will stay dry with highs around 70 under increasing clouds. The warming trend continues into Saturday and Sunday, with the warmest readings expected along the Ohio River and southern valleys, including Huntington, Grayson, and Williamson, where highs may approach 85°F. Meanwhile, higher terrain spots like Beckley and Elkins will stay in the 70s.

A strong cold front will pass through late Sunday, ushering in cooler, breezier air for the new workweek. Monday’s highs will fall back into the 50s and 60s, ending the unseasonable warmth. No rain is expected before the front arrives, making for excellent outdoor conditions Friday and Saturday.

Residents should enjoy the final warm spell before the shift to more typical October temperatures next week.
