Charleston, WV – Cold, breezy weather will continue across West Virginia through the weekend, with periods of light snow and a potential wintry mix in the mountains late Saturday into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service Charleston.
Forecasters say light mountain snow will taper off Friday afternoon, but another system arriving Saturday could bring fresh snow to higher elevations and a rain-snow mix to the lowlands. Snow may start in the valleys Saturday night before transitioning to rain on Sunday as temperatures rise into the 40s.
Mountain areas can expect highs in the teens to low 30s Friday, warming into the 30s and 40s by Sunday, while lowland regions will see highs climb from the 30s Friday to the upper 30s and 40s over the weekend.
Another weather system is forecast to arrive late Monday into Tuesday, possibly bringing additional rain or mixed precipitation to parts of the state.
The NWS advises travelers heading into the mountains to use caution on snow-covered roads and stay alert for changing conditions, especially Saturday night.
