Charleston, S.C. – Dry skies and rising temperatures will dominate the Lowcountry through Saturday, but residents in Charleston should prepare for a shift by late weekend as rain chances return and minor coastal flooding becomes a concern.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, high pressure will keep the region mostly sunny with highs climbing into the mid-90s Friday and Saturday. Evening high tides could bring minor flooding downtown and along low-lying roads beginning Friday, especially around the Battery and other flood-prone areas.

Sunday, a developing area of low pressure will move toward the coast, increasing the likelihood of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Forecasters say rain may briefly reduce heat, but it could worsen flooding during peak tides. Drivers should avoid water-covered roads, and residents are advised to move vehicles from low-lying parking areas ahead of evening tide cycles.

While most of the state will stay dry until the weekend, the heaviest coastal impacts remain focused on Charleston and surrounding barrier islands, where flooding concerns may linger into early next week.
