Charleston, SC – A Freeze Warning has been issued for much of South Carolina as near-record cold temperatures are expected Monday night into Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

Forecasters say temperatures will drop into the mid-20s inland and upper 20s to near 30°F along the coast, marking one of the coldest nights of the season. A widespread, killing freeze is anticipated away from the beaches, with gusty northwest winds making it feel even colder — wind chills could fall into the upper teens to low 20s in some areas.

Residents are urged to bring pets indoors, cover sensitive plants, and protect outdoor pipes from freezing. The NWS cautions that this event could lead to damage in unprotected vegetation and plumbing, especially in rural and inland communities.

Temperatures are expected to rebound gradually by midweek, but the agency stresses that this early-season cold snap will be near record-breaking for mid-November across parts of the Lowcountry and Pee Dee regions.
