Charleston, S.C. – Beachgoers and boaters across the South Carolina coast are being urged to use caution as breezy winds and dangerous rip currents continue through Monday. Conditions will be most hazardous along the Charleston area beaches, where gusty northeast winds and strong surf are expected to make swimming and boating especially risky.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, winds will strengthen Sunday and Monday, with gusts up to 30 knots creating rough seas and hazardous marine travel. A Small Craft Advisory remains in place through early Tuesday. Swimmers should be on alert as a high risk of rip currents is expected along all beaches through Monday.

By Monday, tidal departures in Charleston Harbor could rise enough to approach minor flood thresholds, though significant flooding is not anticipated. Officials urge anyone heading to the water to check local conditions, stay out of strong surf, and avoid boating in small vessels during periods of rough seas.

Hazardous marine conditions are expected to linger into early week, with advisories likely continuing into Tuesday morning.
