Charles County, MD – Authorities in Charles County carried out a large-scale warrant sweep this week targeting individuals wanted for domestic violence-related charges.

According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the operation took place on October 15 as part of the Annual National Family Violence Warrant Sweep. Officers from multiple divisions—including Judicial Services, Neighborhood Enforcement, Patrol Shift 4, and the Detention Center’s transport team—joined forces to locate and arrest suspects accused of domestic violence and other crimes.

During the coordinated effort, officers attempted service of 127 warrants, resulting in 12 arrests and 11 criminal summonses. The sweep was part of a nationwide initiative bringing law enforcement agencies together to hold offenders accountable and ensure that fleeing does not equate to escaping justice.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that these warrants are not connected to protective or peace orders, but rather to outstanding criminal cases. Sgt. Andrew Coulby, supervisor of the Domestic Violence Unit, stated that the agency remains “committed to protecting survivors, pursuing justice, and ensuring that those who abuse others are held responsible for their actions.”

Officials said the operation reflects Charles County’s ongoing dedication to supporting victims of domestic violence and bringing offenders to justice.
