PEORIA, Ill. – A stretch of dry, comfortable fall weather will continue through the weekend before temperatures climb into the upper 70s and near 80 degrees early next week. The National Weather Service in Lincoln says the pattern marks a brief warmup following several weeks of cooler, more seasonal air.

According to the NWS Central Illinois office, highs Saturday will stay in the lower 70s with lows dipping into the upper 40s. By Monday and Tuesday, readings could reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees, roughly 10 degrees above early-October averages. Skies are expected to remain mostly sunny with little to no rain chance through midweek.

Motorists can expect ideal travel conditions across I-55 and I-74 corridors, with light winds and dry pavement. Farmers wrapping up harvest operations should also find favorable conditions for several more days. Despite the warm afternoons, officials advise residents to continue monitoring cool overnight lows in the 40s for sensitive vegetation.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, no major weather-related disruptions are expected through Wednesday. Outdoor events, including high school football and fall festivals, should see mild evenings with light jackets sufficient after sunset.

The weather service notes a possible cooldown toward late next week, but no frost or freeze concerns appear in the short term. Residents are urged to take advantage of the pleasant weather window before typical mid-October changes return.
