Champaign Man Shot in Robbery Gone Wrong on W. Green Street

Champaign, IL – A man is in serious but stable condition after being shot at a store on W. Green St., Sunday night.

According to Champaign police, it happened around 10:45 PM in the 100 block of W. Green St. When officers arrived to report of the shooting with injuries.  

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a 23-year-old man had been suffering from a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound, and provided medical assistance on the scene before the victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

An investigation into the incident reveal that the victim had been waiting at a store at the time when it identified subject approach the man and attempted to rob them.  The victim was then shot by the suspect struck somewhere in his upper body.  The suspect immediately fled the scene following the shooting.
