Normal, IL – A Champaign man has been arrested following a months-long investigation into alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile in Normal, police announced Wednesday.
According to the Normal Police Department, Nathaniel L. Stokes, 35, was taken into custody on September 17, 2025, and booked into the McLean County Jail on an outstanding warrant.
Investigators said the case began in July 2025, when allegations surfaced that Stokes had inappropriate contact with a juvenile female under the age of 13 while living at a residence in Normal. Detectives worked alongside the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services during the investigation.
Following a review of the findings, prosecutors obtained a McLean County arrest warrant, leading to Stokes’ arrest this week. He is facing two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, both involving a victim younger than 13, authorities said.
Police emphasized that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
