Illinois – A thick veil of fog blankets Champaign before sunrise, cutting visibility to a quarter mile in spots. Temperatures hold at 34°F at Willard Airport, and calm winds allow the mist to linger over I-57 and I-74. Early commuters face reduced visibility through mid-morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CST. Visibility may drop to one-quarter mile or less across Champaign, Vermilion, Douglas and Coles counties. Drivers should slow down, use low-beam headlights and allow extra space between vehicles.

Fog gradually thins later this morning as skies brighten. Highs climb to 60°F this afternoon with southwest winds gusting up to 25 mph. That February thaw continues Tuesday, with highs near 58°F under mostly cloudy skies.

Rain chances increase Tuesday night, with a 40% chance after sunset. Lows stay mild near 53°F, preventing icy travel. Wednesday, February 18, turns sunny and breezy, pushing highs to 68°F. Gusts could reach 30 mph during the afternoon.

Another system approaches Thursday. Rain chances rise to 50% by Thursday afternoon and evening. As colder air filters in late week, a brief rain-to-snow mix cannot be ruled out Saturday night into Sunday. While no heavy snow is projected, temperatures near freezing could create slick spots.

Looking ahead to President’s Day Week, the 6- to 10-day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across central Illinois. Expect continued temperature swings, periodic rain, and only minor winter interruptions as February Weather trends milder overall.
