Champaign, Ill. – Drivers across Champaign County may run into patchy fog before sunrise Wednesday, with visibility dropping quickly on rural highways and low-lying areas. Conditions should improve after 9 a.m. as skies turn mostly sunny and temperatures climb into the mid-80s.

According to the National Weather Service, light north-northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph may bring brief gusts up to 16 mph during the day, helping clear out the fog by late morning. Overnight lows will fall into the lower 60s under mostly clear skies.

The calm, dry stretch continues through the end of the week, with highs near 83 on Thursday and warming slightly to 85 on Friday and Saturday. Winds will stay light, keeping conditions comfortable for outdoor activities and campus events. Nights will dip into the upper 50s to lower 60s, offering a cooler start each morning.

By Sunday and early next week, highs trend downward into the upper 70s, signaling a mild finish to August. Travelers should continue to use caution during early morning fog, especially along I-57, I-72, and county backroads where visibility may be limited.

Clear skies and quiet weather are expected to dominate into next week, with no rain chances currently in sight.
