Champaign, IL – Families in Champaign can celebrate Halloween early today with two back-to-back Trunk-or-Treat events hosted by local organizations and the Champaign Police Department.

According to the Champaign Police, the first event runs from 3–5 p.m. at Parkland College, 2400 W. Bradley Avenue, sponsored by CU Community Sponsors. Following that, a second event will take place from 5–6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, located at 210 W. Church Street in downtown Champaign.

Both gatherings are designed to provide a safe and family-friendly way for children to collect candy and meet local police officers in a fun Halloween setting. Costumes are encouraged, and families are reminded to bring bags for treats.

The Champaign Police Department said they’re excited to meet residents and emphasized community engagement as a key part of today’s festivities. “Put on your costume and break out the big bag for candy,” the department shared in a post earlier today.

City officials also reminded residents that official trick-or-treating hours in Champaign will take place on Friday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., encouraging all to plan ahead for a safe evening.
