According to the Urbana Police Department, a resident interrupted the burglary around 700 block of Shurts Street on September 13, 2025, after noticing suspects at his parked vehicle. Police said the suspects appeared to have broken a window, and one of the men was found inside the car. When confronted, the suspects allegedly fled on foot.
Officers responded quickly and detained two men within blocks of the scene. The suspects, identified as an 18-year-old Urbana resident and a 23-year-old Champaign resident, were positively identified by the victim, according to police. Both were arrested on charges of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle and transported to Champaign County Satellite Jail, where they await court proceedings.
