Urbana, IL – A motorcyclist was killed and another injured Wednesday night after a crash involving a semi-truck on Cunningham Avenue near the Interstate 74 eastbound on-ramp, according to Urbana Police.

The collision happened around 7:20 p.m. on September 10, when the truck driver, identified as 37-year-old Hugo Bautista-Perez, allegedly failed to yield while making a left turn. Police said the truck struck two motorcycles traveling northbound on Cunningham Avenue.

One motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The second rider sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. Bautista-Perez was issued a citation for failure to yield the right-of-way while turning left, police confirmed.

The Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team assisted with the investigation. Cunningham Avenue was closed for several hours during the response. Authorities thanked drivers for their patience during the extended closure.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and additional details will not be released at this time,” Urbana Police said in a statement. The department extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
